Tangier to Marrakech 7 Days Morocco Tour Itinerary:
This 7 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech, begins with the colorful, historic coastal city of Tangier. You'll be met and then drive via rolling hills and picturesque landscapes until you reach Chefchaouen, otherwise known as the breathtaking "Blue City."
Chefchaouen is set amidst the Rif Mountains, colored with blue on all external buildings and narrow, winding streets. Take the day and explore this quiet town. Take a walk around the medina, Outa el-Hammam Square, and the Kasbah: this is what photographers love because most of the buildings in it are adorned with the color blue. Alternatively, take a leisurely tea in one of the many cafes lining the square and enjoy the laid-back feel of the place. Overnight in Chefchaouen.
Have breakfast and leave Chefchaouen to head south to Fes. This would include a stop in the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Fascinating ruins, Roman columns, mosaics, including the grand archway, abound. This is a look into Morocco's ancient history and culture.
From there drive into Fes for a late afternoon/evening arrival. Fes is one of the oldest cities in Morocco and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its medina. Time will be provided to check into the hotel, retiring to your rooms for tonight and a good night's sleep in preparation for a full day of exploration tomorrow. Overnight: Fes
In this tour, explore the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco: Fes. The labyrinthine alleys of the Fes el-Bali medina are filled to the brim with lively markets, ancient mosques, and secret treasures to uncover. The following are some of the sights:
- Al-Qarawiyyin University: Among the oldest universities in the world.
- Bou Inania Madrasa: Probably the best example of traditional Moroccan architecture.
- Fes Tannery: a chance to see the traditional processes of leather dyeing in huge vats.
- Al-Attarine Madrasa: another spectacular Islamic architectural site. You will also have time to visit the Royal Palace, the Jnan Sbil Gardens and to go souvenir hunting in the souks. Accommodation overnight Fes
A tour to a small village, Merzouga lying on the fringes of the Sahara Desert, is scheduled for the fourth day. Driving through the lovely Middle Atlas Mountains, several charming Berber villages, vast plains, and beautiful mountain landscape comprises part of the tour.
You would consequently arrive at Merzouga and check into a decent hotel. You would rest up at this hotel in the serene desert atmosphere.
You might make a small walk around the place depending on the time of your arrival and have lunch locally, which would prepare you for the following day in the adventure of deserts. Overnight: Merzouga Hotel.
Having had your breakfast, the fun day will start with a 4x4 drive. Drive off-road to see extraordinary landscapes in the desert: Rocky hills, small Berber villages, open wide spaces-so easy to take up your camera and click away for photos looking at the scenery in the desert.
Right after lunch, you will get on a camel and start a camel safari right into the heart of the Sahara Desert. In fact, your camels will take you across the dunes of Erg Chebbi, also extremely famous for its high dunes of golden-colored sand. It is quite a smooth ride and provides one with sufficient time to relax and enjoy beautiful views in the desert.
You will be taken to a desert camp amidst the dunes where you could have some time to rest. That would place you right at the most ideal spot for sunset on the desert-moments which you shall never forget.
Here, you leave for dinner-a typical Moroccan tagine and couscous-prepared in a Berber fashion over the campfire. Later in the night, soft playing Berber music across the star-filled sky is simply magical.
Overnight: You will be transferred to a desert camp right in the middle of sand dunes and quiet desert.
Get up in good time to catch this breathtaking view of the sunrise above the dunes, which would carve its niche in your heart forever. Immediately after the sun rises, head back by camelback to Merzouga to freshen up and have breakfast.
It then begins the trek to the Dades Valley through beautiful oases, canyons in rock, and villages far removed from this modern world. The drive views vast panoramas of the High Atlas Mountains and the scenery of the valley. Upon arrival in the valley, check into the hotel, followed by some leisure time. Overnight in Dades Valley
